I remember that segment. She didn't have a wreck, she had an allergic reaction to some shrimp she ate while she was at prom and her date took her to the hospital.

There was also a song I was wondering about. There's this episode where this man leaves a suicide threat on his answering machine and there's this sad country-western song playing in the background. the only lyric I can hear from is "can't do it right". This happened in December of 1989, so the song would have been around before then.

And if I remember correctly, the girl is seen
cheerleading at the end I think!!! Darn she was pretty
fine too!! I bet they made a great couple!!!

As for the suicide threat, I too was wondering
what the country song was called well before the
previous post about it was posted....it's a notably
sad country song heard on his machine with lyrics
that sort of convey something bad is happening..
I think very severe depression would make one feel
suicidal..counseling is the best but not
always right thing to help!!

I know if I heard a song like that late
at night on an answering machine with someone
leaving a suicidal message - i would be
scared for him..!!!

I wish I knew why the man wanted to commit
suicide-- was it marriage problems, or family
troubles??

I think he was found by police or medics
sitting in his car in the garage inhaling
the exhaust..so suffocation I think..

Suicide is very sad-- and anyone in a situation
like that as the guy was should have seen a counseler!!

Suicide is not a way to solve your problems. There are ways you can make your life better.

allgood 2000,
Since my country music knowledge has been so great lately I think I might know the song that you're talking about. The possible song that you may have heard is "There's No Gettin Over Me" by Ronnie Milsap.

Hope that Helps:)

Actualy I wondered what the song on the answering
machine was too with the suicidal man!!

It was definately country!!

And that song title definately fits the man's
situation-- he can't cope with a break-up
so that song was probably heard to express
sorrow for the way he felt for his wife..

A better way would have gone for counseling
to cope!!

I listened "There's No Getting Over Me" by Ronnie Milsap and you were right.

The part that you hear on the answering machine is between 15 and 30 seconds into the song.

The prom story involved an incident that took place at the Bolton High School prom. Bolton High School is not very far from where I live around Memphis, Tennessee. Some of my family graduated from that school and two of my cousins knew the girl involved.
