I was rewatching the Evil Leapers episodes for the first time in some years recently. At the end, we see Alia and Zoe are both shot, then leap out. But the people they had leaped into are fine. Alive and without a mark on them.
Al comments that he doesn't know where Alia is, but she's definitely free. Did this mean she'd died? Is that the reason they can't find her? Or did he know she'd died, but chose not to tell Sam knowing that death for Alia was a type of freedom?
Or was it just leaving it open, so they could've used her again if there was a season six?
You think that she leaped into somebody else, and is now like Sam? Putting things right that once went wrong. She'd have no hologram to guide her though, surely.
I'd like to think of it that way, the Evil Leapers were definitely introduced for more stories in future seasons but sadly the studio pulled the plug on the show.
Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if they'd intended to reprise the characters for Season Six.
I think by Season Five though, they had slightly started to jump the shark a bit. It hadn't got bad exactly, but there were a lot of things they threw into this season that they hadn't done previously. Leaping him into celebrities such as Dr. Ruth and Elvis, for example. These weren't poor episodes, but it was something they'd avoided in earlier seasons. Also, having him leap outside of his own lifetime was something they avoided for the entirety of the show's run.
When a TV series starts implementing sensational things that they avoided earlier, it's usually indicative that they're beginning to run out of ideas. Probably best that they ended it whilst it was still entertaining.
Guess they were looking for fresh ideas but ended doing the wrong ones I never liked how they broke the lifetime time frame restriction and from the info about what was supposed to happen in S6, Sam ends up in the future beyond his original leap date which might mean they were going to completely ditch the life-time limitation.
It's sad the Magnum crossover idea didn't happen would have given the show the decent ratings boost.
I imagine she did die. She took the shot meant for her body and the other girl popped in unharmed. Same for the Warden and the other Leaper who was confirmed dead and he was unharmed.
There’s actually precedent for this. In the multi part story where Sam leaped into the father of a girl in trouble. He leaped out when the flaming building collapsed. In the part where he leaped into her lover, it was confirmed that the sheriff had died in the fire. I imagine Sam must have been wrought with guilt about that one since he put him in harm’s way.
