Extra work
I got the chance to work as an extra on the show in 1993. I got the chance to play a hospital orderly. It was the episode where Chad Lowe's character comes to the hospital. I am waiting backstage(off the set), for the automatic doors to open, and during one take the guys on the crew who were operating the doors with wires, didn't open them on "action"..to this day, I wish I had the guts to just burst through the doors and make the entrance a bit bigger. Needless to say, on the next take, the doors opened and I bring the wheelchair to where Chad Lowe is and then see him off behind another set of doors. I got the chance to meet Chris who played Corky, briefly. I also remember accidentally running over the foot of an actor playing one of the nurses..she wasn't too happy about that(sorry!). They also did a funny bit with two look-a-like actors who playing "Rigs and Murdoch" type characters and they were in a laundromat..they pull out underware from the washer(or drier),and the Riggs character pulls out Boxers and the Murdoch character pulls out skimmpy type underwear. It was done as an inside joke due to the fact that Leathal Weapon was being shot on the Warner Bros. lot at the time(not sure if it was part 1 or 2, and not sure if they were actually shooting at the same time/day). What was also cool, is that one of the Batman movies was being done there at the time, and you could see some of the exterior sets. It was fun day, with the exception of the Medical advisor..she thought she was the boss of everyone and litteraly yelled at me: "Because I'm the Medical Advisor, that's why"-regarding my question about having to wear latex gloves for the scene..it was a scary moment, and being a novice and not having the guts to stand up to her, put on the gloves..I wish to this day, I had stood up to her, but thought I might get fired if I didn't listen to her. Wonder what she's up to these days? It was fun and quite an experience getting to work on a big movie studio. It was a fun shoot all around.
