Amazing isn't it?

When you turn on the T.V. expecting to watch "Deliverance" and while watching you realize that Chris Burke played in the movie! I didn't realize it, as he was much younger when he played the Banjo Boy.

Did they teach him to play a banjo or did they use fancy camera work to shoot that scene?

He was only in the movie for mere minutes, but he is probably one of the best known parts of this movie aside from Ned Beaty squeeling like a pig.

He was also the Master Blaster in Beyond Thunderdome.

I almost didn't reply to this thread because of the sheer ridiculousness of it. But I had to anyway.

(1). Chris Burke was not in Deliverance. The boy who played the banjo really played the banjo, and he was from the Appalachian area. On the DVD extra's, Ronnie talks about how the boy didn't like Burt or John one and that's how they got the shot where the boy gives the mean look to them. Chris was born in 65, and since Deliverance was realeased in 74, he would not have been the age of the boy in the movie.

If you understood anything about disabilities, you would have realized that the young man in Deliverance did not have Down Sydrome where Chris does. Not everyone is "just retarded"; there are certain names and distinctions.

I already adressed the absurd Mad Max assumption.

Here's a thought: If you're on IMDB, why not look at an actor's filmography when in doubt of what they have been in.

Here is a relatively recent picture of Billy Redden, the actor who played the Banjo Kid in Deliverance - http://imgur.com/gallery/DwK4PTE
