Anyone here remember when the show first started?

How close was it to getting cancelled before Steve came along? Do you think it would've even lasted a full season had Steve not showed up? There are a few episodes in season 1 that I do like, but I agree, it got a lot better when we were first introduced to Steve Urkel. I wish I could see some original reviews. I'd probably have to get a TV Guide off Ebay from the fall of 1989.

I remember the early part of the first season was about how much The Winslows loved each other! :) It was a very warm, touching show back then. At one time, I actually thought that Kellie Shangyne Williams was the best actress in the whole world(LOL) when she cried and begged the lady who bought her family history quilt to sell it back to her. Her acting was superb in that scene and you could feel that Laura really did feel sad pain over selling the family history quilt.

"My Grandma begged me not to sell the quilt, but I thought it was just a normal quilt and really wanted the VCR. I had no idea how special and important the quilt really was when I sold it. I will regret selling my family history for the rest of my life!" So damn heartbreaking good acting.

Drake is repetitive. He just raps the same thing over and over as if he is in an insane asylum!LOL:D

Then how come the people at ABC almost cancelled it? I've only seen that episode once and I liked it. I may have to pull out my season 1 DVD set.
