Does anybody remember a suspect named Michael on COPS from Fort Worth, TX (Season 14, Episode 19)?

I've just found out yesterday that Michael passed away in 2009 and lived to be 59 years old, he was the crackhead who was having a breakdown and couldn't talk because he was angry and frightened over getting pulled over by the police, Michael also admitted to the officer that he has a crackpipe in his vehicle because he believed he would get off easily.

I remember that guy. I didn't know he died though.

While it's fairly easy to find cops who died, suspects and other people are often more difficult to find as their last names are edited out.

Someone mentioned it on YouTube and gave out his name, I'm totally shocked that he was 51 years old during the time he was on COPS, I would've thought he was around 45 at the oldest.

I know drugs can age you. Hopefully drugs weren't the reason for his death. I could easily put him into the "criminals you wish weren't arrested" thread. You could tell he was struggling and knew he wanted help.

The segment that followed was one of my favorite Joe Morgan segments where he helped find a 5-year-old boy who left his house.

I did wish he didn't get arrested because I couldn't help but feel bad for him, I did hope he'd gotten the help that he needed before his death, plus he was also being cooperative although highly emotional over the situation, I'm glad Officer Maldonado was being at least polite towards the suspect in that episode because I know he is capable of being a jerk in some episodes.

I remember the Joe Morgan segment with him finding a 5 year old boy who left his house, that was a good episode.

I think Maldonado is good in most segments. There were 3 of them where he seemed slightly aggressive.

I do like Maldonado overall, I thought he handled the situation very well with the crackhead getting ripped off and wanted her money back, I felt like he was the voice of reason with both the crackhead and the other woman.

The only episode I didn't like watching him was the one where he was chasing a guy in a large pickup truck.

small pickup ? if that's the dude i remember him crying & begging. that'd mean he lived around 10 years after which would lead me to believe he cleaned up

reply

He was driving a red SUV, he passed away 8 years after his appearance on COPS, he was definitely crying, begging and freaking out, his girlfriend also got arrested for the crack rocks, I wonder if he ever did clean up or not.
