Why don't they do HPD Hawaii ?

Have never seen it...might be interesting.

admittedly our channel here TEN-1HD Australia just keeps re-running episodes 5 years old and older..

They did a few episodes in season 16 (maybe a couple others I'm not sure) but it's definitely not one of their regular places. There could be a few reasons for that. I doubt cost is that much of an issue. It would be a little more expensive to fly out there and film but they go with a pretty small crew so I don't think that's it.

I have two guesses. One is that it wasn’t eventful enough, there is an ask me anything on reddit from a couple of Cops camera guys and I remember them saying that had a lot to do with where they chose to shoot.

The other (and I think most likely) is that the community complained that it made the city look bad after some episodes aired. One of my ex-girlfriends is from Cincinatti, OH and she said that happened there. Cops came in and filmed a bunch of footage with the city police and county (Hamilton) Sheriff and a bunch of people complained that it made the city look bad and demanded they never be invited back.

My guess is since Hawaii relies so heavily on tourist coming that the community didn’t like the show being filmed there in fear that people wouldn’t want to come visit.

thanks...never thought of obvious potential non-Aloha non-cooperation from the department and government as the obvious probability.

OTOH, Florida is heavily tourism-reliant as well...maybe in % terms not as much as Hi, I guess...but they sure give Florida plenty of air-time..

Which I love btw, probably my favorite COPS location..and I vacation there and it does not deter me.When Broward is on, I look for places and people I know..
But I am not a family-market tourist, lol.

I would think if they WERE NOT televised, it would be more of a risk in going there.

Ohio has a lot of mass shootings recently and robberies. That would stop me from going there, especially in the Columbus, OH area.

Better watch out, better start crying. Better hurry up, run and hide. Krampus is coming to town! >:)

Because there are no black or hispanics in Hawaii :|

no,not a large number,
but it is not a low-crime island, the indigenes and Samoans are a pretty street-crime prone group..(Polynesians anywhere are)
drugs are a --huge-- problem young Hawaiians.

I was only there two days first time 2009 before I had an altercation on Waikiki walk with a local punk about 19-22YO..I read two books about crimes and cops on Hawaii, trust me, that place has a dark-side, sun and fun tourist paradises usually do..

hmm interesting. Never really associated Pacific Islanders with street crime but I guess you're right.
