Isnt this show kinda humiliating towards the people being arrested and

Their families? I know some people will probably jump into this with the typical "I don't feel bad they're criminals blah blah blah" But I personally don't think some of the stuff they air is really necessary. The families of the people making fools of themselves could be made fun of in schools and that could have a big impact on them. I know it would if it was me, I would be completely depressed and embarrassed if my Mom or Dad was put on display on TV's doing something embarrassing and then going into school and having people know they were related to you. Idk, call me sensitive but I just think this show can be kinda wrong.

I think about this too sometimes and the ones that suffer the most are minors/teenagers. There was one episode where a 16 year old's girl mom went psycho, (allegedly) tried to run her over with a car and totally trashed her room. She then went on to put the family on blast saying both her daughter and husband were bipolar and the dad was a drunk. This could definitely lead to problems for the both parties if the wrong people see it.

The thing is though, the people appearing can simply not sign their waiver to be on TV and truthfully COPS isn't *that* big of a show to where it would be all over the place if something shameful happened to someone you know.

I didn't think it was that big of a show but recently I found out that a lot of people I know watch it casually, That's kinda what made me start thinking this. If they choose not to sign the waiver doesn't that mean they just blur their faces? I find it hard to believe some of the people on this show would actually agree. Even if the show isn't that big though, all it takes is maybe one person in that 16 year old girls school to see the episode and then it spreads and other people might look the episode up and then that girl is humiliated, belittled, and judged for the rest of her time in High school. It kinda is a little mean and depressing when you look past all of the funny "dumb" stuff on the show.

Now that think about it, I have not seen any recent episodes with blurred out faces...except maybe random people in the background. Something might have changed in the way they handle that. The point you make is true though, if even they just blur out faces, people who know them obviously would be able to tell, but then again, I don't know exactly how the waiver process works at this point.

But yeah, it actually is a bit depressing :/

I just watched that episode not to long ago, it was in Florida I think. Yeah I felt really bad for that girl. She was crying, the mother was crying. all of her stuff was thrown out of her bedroom window.

And to answer your second part, cops isn't a major show anymore... but, if someone found out they knew someone else who was on the show, it would spread around like wildfire amongst friends / family / enemies etc... and a lot of these episodes are filmed in smallish towns and tightnit neighborhoods. It could become very embarassing.
