While watching this show, I always wondered. When the cops call the medics, after injuries to the suspect, who pays for the visit? Do you think it is charged to the suspect's family or does it come out of taxpayer (paid by the state)? Do suspects get a free health ride, before they are taken to jail?
Just curious.

The person with the injury is responsible for a medical bill unless they are under arrest. Even after arrest they can be responsible. Just because someone calls an ambulance for a stranger does not make them responsible for the bill. Now, can the person pay for their care?
Most EMS services, just like hospitals, raise prices because so many indigents never pay.
Sometimes police will actually wait to arrest someone until medical issues can be handled.
I think a county or a state would not pay for care until the person is a ward of the county or state (or Fed) (incarcerated).
