My wife and I are both perplexed at why cops will yell at suspects, taking things personally, when perhaps the suspect runs from them, lies to them, hides something from them. What's with the anger issues? I don't get it. It's your job. "Why did you run from me?" "Why did you lie to me?" GEE, WHY DO YOU THINK?
Maybe if you watched episodes of COPS for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, you MIGHT start to appreciate what it is like to be spit on, kicked, lied to, yell at a dozen times a day by human scum who are as pleasant to deal with as cholera.
Oh, if you yell at me or spit on me, I'll react, yes, but use a little logic. If you run from me, it's because you are trying to get away. If you hide something, you are trying to get away with a crime. It's nothing personal. Spitting in your face is a different story, but most people who do that are drunk or totally out of their minds.
And I reiterate, it is their JOB.
I suppose it's because all they really wanna do is sit in their patrol cars trying to find ways to ticket people for petty crap, so when it's finally time to do actual police work, their small minds don't know how to react lol

If they use everything against you say in the court of law, I am guessing they are recording them and thus, have to say the full question in order for them to answer. Voila. They now have the evidence right?

I think some times it is from bewilderment as well. I know I have watched episodes where they try to run, and I have thought, "How far do you think you are going to get dumba**?"
shareI just watched one tonight where the cop busts someone who is clearly wasted but doesn't appear to be any threat, the way the cop yells at him to get on the floor and then pushes him down before tazing him seemed so aggressive and unnecessary to me.
There is obviously a danger in any scenario and id hate to be a cop myself in that situation but his attitude seemed way OTT and only exacerbated the situation.
The cop was a scrawny white guy with glasses and the suspect a middle aged black guy. Was very uncomfortable watching and I could t help feeling the cop was acting out a tough guy role he would never dare to try without a badge.
The whole episode just left me feeling very sad. I'm no bleeding heart liberal and if you do the crime expect to do the time. Yet it left me wondering how many situations escalate and get worse from cops with too much testosterone handling the arrest badly.
I believe i just watched the same one. guy was in a stolen truck by himself. That officer said just before he pulled up on the truck that it was exciting and sometimes you had to even "De-escalate a situation because your back up might be 10 min away", that shows you right there he has the wrong mindset. He should always look to De-escalate a situation. He did not in this case at all. I understand the truck came back stolen, however he went aggressive before the guy even gave any indication of being combative. I am a supporter of responsible policing and have many friends and family on the job. That kind of policing is ridiculous being that aggressive is stupid. That is what people think all cops are like and they are not, but that guy needs some disciplinary action.
shareYeah, I just watched that one too. He definitely escalated the situation. There was a point where he was telling the guy to get on the ground, but he was going down, just too slowly for the cop I guess. They guy has his hands on the ground trying to lower himself down and the cop comes and just pushes the guys face in the dirt.

One episode that pissed me off was an older episode from Season 14 where Officer Joe Frentess of Des Moines Iowa pulled over a vehicle that appeared to be driving a little recklessly, after a minute or two the driver pulls over and initially denies that he was drinking, then Officer Frentess has the driver to step outside of the vehicle, then when Officer Frentess asks the driver to spread his legs, the driver complies but Officer Frentess has the nerve to physically spread his legs wider to where he nearly did the splits, the suspect asks the officer nicely to calm down and Officer Frentess took it the wrong way and yells at him.
I can't stand watching that episode because of Officer Joe Frentess, thankfully I believe that was the only episode he appeared in.
Another episode where a police officer pissed me off was the one from Phoenix Arizona where the police did a search warrant and puts a gun to the suspect's ear and also roughs him up while arresting him for no apparent reason, the police were also yelling and screaming at all of the suspects in the house along with roughing them up by throwing them to the ground.

shareAnother episode where I've thought the officers acted out of line with their anger was the one from Season 5 (Phoenix, Arizona) where the police did a search warrant on a crack house, one cop angrily puts a gun to the suspect's head and starts yelling and screaming at him, I personally thought these crack dealers should be given a medal just for even being polite and cooperative towards these short tempered officers, another cop was throwing the suspect's to the ground hard while yelling and screaming at them, I have a hard time watching that episode because of the way the police officers handled the situation.
