Garth's Age?

Just wondered if anyone knew how old garth is meant to be?

The original actor was 17 playing a school kid, but Matt Willis is only 30 now and the series started 25 years ago. I'm presuming Garth is now around 30, but should be 39-40?

Tracey asked whether 22 years was a big age gap in 1998 meaning Garth is now 38.
