The Birds return........

Ok, so they've jettisoned the Australian girlfriend and daughter, and have replaced Garth with a more age-appropriate actor. All good points.

But, the humour seemed really forced and unfunny. They need to look back at earlier shows and remind themselves of why the original was so good..... it just flowed and felt natural. Now, it's as if every line is created to go "drumroll............ ba da boom!"

Change the writers, otherwise the show won't survive too much longer.

I don't understand why the writers felt the need to dumb-down Garth.

The idea of him still believing in Father Christmas is ridiculous and he now comes across as though he has a low IQ.

Why no mention of his wife Kimberley or their child?

I loved the original Birds of a Feather and still watch the repeats currently being screened on Drama, but I'm disappointed with it's comeback. I had high hopes for it when I heard it was being penned by the original creators Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, but like you, I find the humour forced and unnatural.

Pauline Quirke's son Charlie who plays Travis, comes across quite well, but perhaps that's because his character is new and we didn't know what to expect from him.
