No bleeding remake, I love this film just as it is.

This movie should just not be remade, I mean what do ya want another Night at the museum only crossed withhouse of wax? When this came out it was generally hated, even though it did surprisingly well in the states, you see the thing with waxworks is that it really wants to be the sum of its parts, the cast (with the odd exception) are generally pretty good, especially warner (why oh why was his part not bigger), the effects are just fantastic for most of the time, (you can see the waxworks moving) especially bob keens creature effects, the wolfman is awesome as is the mummy, there's even a fairly good bit of erotic sadism thrown in for good measure. OK so the story is nothing new at all, and the acting can be pretty atrocious at times but its just all so bonkers you cant help but fall in love with it. i saw this movie when it had just come out on VHS back in the day when i was to young to rent it for myself and thought it was the coolest, i had not seen it for at least 10 years until i bought it the other day and you know what, its still cooler than it has any right to be, and for bad sequels this also takes the biscuit, I loved the sequel, but man does it stink, 'Lost in time like a bug in a jar, no matter where you go, huh there you are' classic.

I know what you mean. I still love "Waxwork". It remains my favorite horror movie to date. Of course, that's common knowledge since I have my own fan site devoted to it (www.waxwork-movie-fan-site.cjb.net -- plug, plug).

As much as I love "Waxwork", though, I don't want to see a remake of it, either. Have you ever noticed that remakes of old movies (such as "The Haunting", "The Omen" and "House of Wax") are nowhere near as good as the originals? And every horror movie remake so far usually goes a bit overboard on the whole gore factor and what I love about "Waxwork" is that, while there is gore, it's only done when necessary, not for the sake of having gore.

Still, I really wish they'd release a Special Edition DVD of this (Hmm... "The Closer Look Edition"?). I hate how the Artisan DVD had no extras at all. Not even a trailer. What a shame.

Good man, I agree completely, will check out yer sight, and as for "the closer look edition" idea, fantastic, hey who knows, with Monster squad finally getting a realise, who knows what the future holds, and hey if a remake means we get a special edition dvd to coincide, who cares how much the new movie will suck, we still get what we want, and I know it would take a lot to tarnish my love of this film.

I hate to break this to you but considering that Hollywood is completely devoid of any originality, a remake is inevitable.

You're momma's so ugly she made a mime scream.

I can see how you could fall in love with this movie when you first saw it as a child but from a grown up perspective it sucks balls (although it does have a certain charm)!
