was this really PG?

Who thinks this should have been a PG-13 movie? Would you take your young kid to this movie after seeing it? just wondering...I was surprised at the rating when I rented it on DVD. I think it deserved a PG-13 rating.

Welcome to the 80's.

My parents took me to see this movie as a child and I loved it. By todays standards it is tamer than most PG-13 movies, but even with a PG rating, I wouldn't let my child see this. Maybe if they were ten.

If I had kids, I'd let them watch this movie as soon as they learned how to read. (That's when I first saw it, and it didn't disturb me at all)

There may not have been a PG13 then. The ratings used to go from PG to R, and it definitly wouldnt be R so it would have been PG in the early 80's. Probably be PG13 today.

PG-13 came out with after Indiana Jones 2 (Temple of Doom), in '84.

Some of the PG rated movies from the 80s would be PG-13 today. Beetle Juice and Spaceballs are perfect examples.

Why not?
