Airing on Encore HD
Since there is no DVD worth buying of this film (only a bad quality fullscreen disc from 1998), I felt it was worth mentioning Twins is being broadcast on Encore HD currently; it's 16x9 widescreen, so DVR away.

shareIf you buy Arnold's comedy collection DVD,you get "Twins","Kindergarden Cop" and "Junior" in widescreen. That's the only version of "Twins" that is available in widescreen that I know of.

Listening to the Phillies will never be the same.
Thanks for the info. I've looked into this more, and apparently the 1998 DVD is actually an open matte version rather than pan and scan. This is the same thing that happened with the Remo Williams DVD; the US version is open matte, but the Japanese DVD is cropped to the (intended) theatrical 1.85:1 aspect. Unfortunately it's not possible to distinguish between the formats from what's printed on the cover art, and many of the first DVD format releases from 1997/1998 are not only poor transfers, but framing issues and other inconsistencies abound. The listing on dvdcompare.net doesn't contain any info about this set's disc, but since it's really inexpensive I'll pick it up and compare the different versions.
shareIt's ananmorphic widescreen 1.85.1,which is much better to look at on a HD tv. The picture quality still isn't perfect, but it is better than the original dvd. I keep hoping it will be released in Blueray.
