Did Vincent hand onto $1,000,000?

Sorry if this has already been brought up before, but I think Vincent might have kept $1,000,000 from the case. He was given 5 million for that engine. But at the end, he says that he gave back the 4 million and says it in kind of a sly voice. So was that intentional or just a mistake?

It's sounds like he did. There's another thread on here where some are assuming he did and that it wasn't an undiscovered mistake by Danny D or from the script. I too have always wondered WTF and the thought of Vincent keeping a cool mill never crossed my mind.

Well, I guess we're just not as smart or witty as you then, ain't we?? Glad to hear you're right on top of things, my friend.

Fact of the matter is, movie makers make mistakes all the time, whether intended or not intended. Granted, Vincent is a sneaky little SOB but, I don't recall seeing any presentable proof that he kept a million dollars outta that case. Maybe you did.

I first saw this movie when I was eight, and never thought twice about it. Of course Vincent kept the million. You couldn't tell by the way he acted he talked about it? But in case you need more proof:

Bought possibly a thousand dollars worth of roses for his girlfriend.

Paid off all his debts to get his office furniture that had been repossessed back. Also got his business back running as well as rehired his secretary.

Still had to pay off the loan sharks. You don't think those guys would just give up and forgive Vincent his debt did you? No matter how many times Jules beats them up, they're going to keep coming back until they get paid, or Vince is dead. And given that he was a week late and had already put those guys through the ringer, I imagine he would have to pay 100k just to stay alive.

Then any other debts he might owe. Whatever was left he was probably stashing some where. Do really think this was a movie mistake?

Guess I'll have to watch it again sometime. I can't remember the last time I watched this movie as its been years and years so, I don't really remember that much. But, what you say makes sense. I just never really put that much thought into it because I too was a kid...lol. That, and probly because subconsciously, Julius threw me off when he was telling Vincent how much money they had left of the reward after paying off all their debts and such. It never dawned on me about him having to pay the thugs off, getting his stuff back and all the flowers he bought for his girlfriend.

Simple mistake on my part and many others.

i'd like to think he snatched one million and kept it

Nothing to think about.

He collected 5 million, and turned in 4 million.

I thought it was an homage to "The In-Laws" where (spoilers)

Peter Falk collects $20mil from the villain then turns over $10mil to the CIA
