Vincent has a cat which he named "Julius." But when he takes off for Texas he abandons the cat, not even allowing it to escape outside, where it would have a decent chance of survival on its own. The cat is still inside when the assassin comes in looking for Vincent. We know that the human Julius is aware of the cat because he points out to Vincent that he named the cat "Julius." Yet Julius says nothing about abandoning the cat to its eventual death.

Vincent said that he was gonna be gone a couple of days, although it seemed like a week, as was said above with enough supplies set out for him a cat can do that time alone standing on its ears lol.
Besides, how do we know that Vincent didn't call someone off screen to go check in on him? Could have happened.
