I didn't know George Lucas bankrolled the film

I was just reading up on this film on Wikipidia, and was surprised to find out that George Lucas bankrolled the budget for this film. George Lucas' friend and mentor Francis Ford Coppola had been trying for many years to get this movie made, and when it was budgeted at $24 Million, the movie studios approached balked and didn't want to fund it. As Coppola had helped Lucas when he was a struggling filmmaker early in his career, and they were good friends, Lucas put the $24 Million up personally to help Coppola get the movie made. Keep in mind, even though he made a ton of money from Star Wars, in the mid-to-late 80's he was struggling a bit with money as his ex-wife took at least half of his fortune (he even sold Pixar in 1986 for $5 Million to get some cash), so $24 Million wasn't exactly chump change for him at that moment. I'm really impressed with this, and Lucas really comes off as a real stand-up guy. The film underperformed at the box office (at 18 Million b.o. take, it didn't even make it's budget back), so I'm sure it set him back a bit at the time. You have to give props to Lucas for investing a substantial amount of his own net worth to help a friend out.
