What Tucker really did...

... was send a message to other car companies that they were stuck in the mud as far as technology and innovation went. For this we can thank him. Not because he invented a car and couldn't produce it.

That's just as true 2 1/2 years later and as it was back then. The big 3 suffered for their hubris in the late 70's/early 80's when Japanese cars started flooding the US market. We've only started catching up to them a few years ago and they're about to pull ahead of us again with hybrids & electrics. We need another Preston Tucker.

We do, it's called Tesla motors and they are going through similar hardships.

Not anymore. Check out YouTube for some videos of the Model S. Everyone loves them! Also, they are putting out over 400 cars a week at present, and can go up to 500 if needed. Tesla is looking at turning a small profit at the end of 2013 Q1 too. Not too bad for a new car company with a new car designed from the ground up (not a modification to an existing car like the Roadster). BTW, their third car called the Model X will be out next year.

Tesla is what Tucker could have been if Preston had done things a little different, and had more money to work with.
