I saw all 4 movies .. the original and all the remakes. Personally I love this version the most...
Its a nice blending oof Broad humor and valid points.
The best scene for me is the one where The dup stands in front of the xerox machine and the Police are ready to shoot them... then the MEDIA is Exstatic to film their death :D

shareI've seen Switching Channels and His Girl Friday (but not either version of The Front Page). I liked both of the ones I've seen. His Girl Friday is a better film--purely based on performances and the script, but Switching Channels has many minor plot points and modern settings that make it well worth watching (far as I'm concerned anyway). I have a difficult time imagining the story working as well with 2 men who don't have a romantic history. The editor is so determined to keep his best reporter that he goes to such lengths to deceive and manipulate people? Unless there's some pretty significant changes to the story, I don't really get it--but I think it might be interesting to do a version where the 2 men are romantically involved. I know a lot of people would groan and complain about "another gay story" but I think it might be funny, with another layer added to a well-known story.

-- Kathleen Turner running backward, bumps into her fiance's crotch & instantly knows it's him (gasping out, "Blaine!")
-- the governor at the end pardoning everyone, "You're pardoned, and you're pardoned, and you're pardoned, and you're not."
-- most any scene w/ Henry Gibson
Henry Gibson totally makes this film. The cast is extraordinary, but this film overall feels like it's in a time warp, even for an '80s film. Still, it's entertaining and hilarious at times (just not all the time). 7/10 stars.
