Raymond's plan was very risky

Someone could've seen him in the car with Saskia and could've remembered the car/license plate/given the police a description of him. Same with the British tourist whose wife he talked to. He realized something fishy was going on when he saw how light the trailer Raymond wanted her to help him with was. He could've remembered the incident when hearing about the missing case (that apparently happened at the same gas station) and could also provide police with a description. Same with the woman he lured in the car before Saskia. In short, Raymond hanging around at the gas station pretty often, talking to women and acting strange, couldn't have gone unnoticed, and someone was bound to remember him. And then later in the car with Rex, when they're crossing the border and getting stopped by the police. Again, someone saw the later missing person with Raymond and might have remembered details when seeing a picture of Rex in the paper. And yeah, those were only short sightings, but there have been crimes that were solved that way. Not to mention that there are two bodies/skeletons in his garden that could be accidentally found one day, when someone is planting flowers or doing whatever.
I'm not saying these are plot holes, but it did bug me that his plan was presented like a perfect crime when it wasn't, and people should've been able to identify him.

Also, another minor question that I don't want to start another thread for: Are we supposed to believe one dissolved sleeping pill knocked Rex out? Doesn't seem likely to me.

(I don't want to sound like I'm complaining because I thought this film was really great, and these are only minor gripes.)

I'd ask you to play House, but you'd be a weird example for our kids.

1. Nobody ever said it was a perfect crime. He was a sociopath, and sociopaths have to do these crazy things. He was lucky to get away and you're right, he was close to being caught. Maybe next time he will. Or he will keep on getting very lucky.

2. When he said "it's a sleeping pill dissolved in coffee" he may not have meant it literally. He could have put a few in but it just sounded better to say "a sleeping pill".
