Theatrical Release?

Did any of these films go to theaters? I believe the first did but then the 2nd and 3rd were direct-to-video. Is this correct?

Yes, both this and Part 3 were direct-to-video.

I believe the original had limited theatrical release (NY metropolitan area, for example). The sequels (including Return to Sleepaway Camp) are direct to video. Too bad.

No, from what I've read the 2 sequels did in fact have a limited theatrical release.
