edited version dvd??

i saw SC2 when i was really young and thought it was great then i few years ago i bout 1,2,3 on dvd. i watched 1,3 right away but for some reason never got around to watching 2 until last night. first of all the transfer was bad quality. secondly, so many parts were cut out. at the begining when the girl gets her tounge cut off gone, the death with the drill in the car was cut down, and when they do show the one girl getting stabed to death and TC getting boiling water in his face the sound cuts out so you dont hear them scream. they even cut down the part where a girl screams and you see red stuff but its revealed its just paint. the one i have has a girl looking out of a tent and the freddy glove in the top left corner. does anyone know if theres a dvd copy that isnt ruined like this one? since the dvds of number 1, 3 are the only versions ive ever seen i dont know if theyve been cut too. theyre not bootlegs or anything got them from a walmart in canada. any help?

Just so you know the ones you got at the wal-mart in Canada ARE bootlegs. It's been prooven, I read an article about it. The reason Wal-Mart carries them is because these films obviously have no respect so they just picked up any version. The only real DVD worth getting the the ones by Anchor Bay. I still need to buy the DVD's and see the first two films (I have only seen Teenage Wasteland) but the Anchor Bay ones not only have clear picture and sound, but lots of extras like cut gore footage and commentaries. 2 and 3 are UNCUT but the first film was accidentally released edited. I hear it dosen't ruin the film too-too much though.

The box-set by Anchor Bay is called "Sleepaway Camp Survival Kit" and has really cook packaging as well as a 16 page booklet. Can't wait to get this, Sleepaway 3 was soo awful but funny, can't wait to see Unhappy Campers!

if you listen to the audio commentary on anchor bays version of sleepaway 2, the director claims they shot 2 different versions of the decapitation which was censored from all north american prints so as to avoid an x rating..he also claims you can see both versions in the documentary included in the extras..but you only get to see it in poor production footage at a *beep* angle so you cant really see whats going on too well..the movie itself is complete except for the decapitation...as for sleepaway 3, the movie is censored..almost every gore scene is toned down..but all the uncensored footage is included in the extras..i believe the reason it was not included in the film is the poor quality of the footage and sound, as it is raw production footage..this is as good as it gets...the sleepaway 1 disc from walmart is a bootleg from the 80's media entertainment vhs..the pic and sound quality arent spectacular but if you want to see the film uncut its all there...

Even that walmart bootleg DVD of part one is actually NOT uncut...

On the Sleepaway Camp website it has a list of all of the different versions that have been released of the film, it even rates them and discusses the quality issues etc. The list includes all known legitimate versions as well as the bootlegs. The VHS copy of the first film your talking about is indeed uncut, whereas the Anchor Bay collection was not.

There are conflicting stories about whether or not they knew about this beforehand, some say they knew the film had been cut and tried to justify it by saying the footage was to degraded to use, others say that when they screened it for the director and crew etc. that the director didn't notice the cuts (Which I first thought was a good thing because if the cuts were so minor that they aren't noticed then I figured they must not have changed very much *sigh* how wrong I was.) and it slipped by them until the fans complained.

That sounds a bit strange to me. I think I would notice if somebody tampered with a movie I directed, I just don't get how the director could fail to notice the many changes and editing mistakes made on the DVD. They need to release ALL of these uncut before it's to late and the footage is lost forever. Anchor Bay should listen to the fanbase and give us what we have been dying for all these years (No pun intended) Im sure the fans will thank them for it.
