I would actually argue this series is more progressive than transphobic.
I've read so many articles painting this series in a negative, transmisogynistic light, but... Angela's actually a pretty *beep* kickass character. In the sequels, she is happily living as a trans woman, and even if she is a killer, she's actually... Fun to watch and entertaining. It never feels like they're trying to cruelly paint transgender women in a negative light.
I'd honestly argue that this series is fairly progressive for its time for making the main character transgender, psychotic or not.
