I agree with the OP. And I'm assuming OP meant 'camp' like in these movies. Last time I went to 'camp' was summer after 5th grade. And then the summers after that the camps I would go to would be specialized and goal-oriented. For instance I attended baseball, tennis, choir, horse camps but they were usually at a facility that bore no resemblance to what 'camp' was when I was a kid. Some were on college campuses and we stayed in dorms. It did seem weird to see these teens just being shipped off to regular 'camp' as campers and not counselors.
Interesting now, because my sister wanted to send her kids to camp but it was almost prohibitively expensive. I guess it's like college tuition that surpassed inflation rate. I know my parents wouldn't have spent $5K in today's dollars to send me to regular camp for two months. Sad that my nieces didn't get to experience that during their childhoods.
