Small moments I love in Rambo III

1. When Rambo is walking to his stick fight you can see the two monk boys walk over to where Rambo was and they stand there watching their hero march to his epic battle.

2. The quick shot of Rambo on horseback jumping over a fence with an explosion in the background.

3. Rambo riding underneath the tank in the Russian fort.

4. Rambo appearing over a mountain aiming and firing his bow at a helicopter.

5. Rambo holding the sheep above his head with one arm.

6. The shot of Rambo and Mousa standing over a cliff watching the jets.

7. There's this amazing shot during the final battle where the camera is behind the Russian army with the rebels on horseback in the distance. Zaysens chopper comes from atop the screen and then keeps forward as if he's wanting to take lead of the charge. It's breathtaking. Hardcore fans should know which shot I'm talking about.

8. Rambo aiming his bow with the blue light attached to the arrow - the look on Rambo's face with it being illuminated by the blue hues is iconically bad ass: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20121227034037/rambo/images/1/1e/60 0px-RamboIIIbow-1.jpg

9. When the chopper drops a bomb on Rambo as he's climbing down a rope into the cave, specifically the shot where he jumps off the rope and down to avoid the ensuing huge fireball and roll over out the way at the very last nano-second. It's awesome.

10. Rambo leaning over and reaching for the sheep in that game - that shot is a legendary symbol not only in the Rambo series but in the action genre, too. Goldsmith's thunderous score is the piece de resistance. It's heroic imagery at its finest.

11. The shot where Rambo turns around to face the camera at the beginning before he fights. The music just suddenly halts as he's fully unveiled - like a macho demi god. Haha awesome.

12. The scene where Rambo is travelling on horse through Afghanistan, especially the part in the cave. The music and breath-taking southern Israeli scenery & geography is just so epic and wondrous - really gets your imagination going that this is more than just an action movie. It's like a fantasy - the Star Wars of war movies.

13. This brief shot: http://youtu.be/sHuQSf8Uc5I?t=1h26m29s. Just the music, scenery and the fact that you see Rambo and Trautman together in combat, at last. They're a great team.

14. Rambo shooting his way out the base, and emerging from a fiery wall to the triumphant Rambo theme, mirroring the shot where he escaped from the police station in First Blood: http://youtu.be/sHuQSf8Uc5I?t=1h1m12s

Water, my ass! Bring this guy some Pepto Bismol!

All the moments you guys described are some of my favorites too.

9. -"That was a close one, John. How are you?"
-"Well done."

The links for 13 and 14 don't work, but I agree; I like all of their scenes together.

The entire sequence when the Russian helicopter gunships attack the Afghan camp, but in particular how it builds up to the finale, with Jerry Goldsmith playing in the background, when Rambo finally reaches the massive DShK machine gun, racks the charging handle and starts pounding away at the unfortunate Russian gunship which then explodes. And made all the more badass by the fact that we then see how colonel Zaysen becomes genuinely worried for the first time and is actually forced to retreat, when he realizes that this time the opponent may be something more than your average Afghan farmer. Somebody actually managed to down one of his birds and undermine the air superiority he was enjoying, that probably hasn't happened to him before.

Think what you like about the movie as a whole, but this is simply one of the greatest action scenes ever put to film. Sheer technical perfection.

When Rambo takes out the truck that is leaving the Russian fortress with the RPG. Has that textbook "ripping metal" explosion sound you heard in the 80's lol.

"Most people can't even find Afghanistan on a map"....uh, what people are these?

Really dumb ones?

Colonel Zaysen pestering Trautman about who this Rambo is, he says something like, "who is he, some kind of god?" Trautman who's has just taken a beating says back something like, "no, god would have mercy, he wont."

The only thing that bothers me is when the Russians have Rambo and Trautman trapped at the border, Rambo has that grenade gun with like four left, he doesn't use at least one on Colonel Zaysen's chopper? Come on now.

"16. The scene where Rambo gives the rebel boy his necklace (the one he put on after Co died in part II, so that makes it even more heartwarming to me)."

I agree. Even though I don't think he should have given him the necklace it's still a great scene. Actually that whole scene in the cave is one of my favorites. The music, the lighting from the fire, the utter disbelief from Mousa that Rambo is actually going back, Rambo carrying the kid to the horse and giving him his necklace while trying to hide how much pain he was in, all leading up to the legendary wound healing scene.

I swear this *beep* movie man. I've seen it over a hundred times and now I want to watch it again.
