I do not understand this at all! I have seen First Blood, First Blood II. shown on AMC, and then SPIKE TV will show First Blood, First Blood II., but they will not show this third Rambo movie.
How come they will not show this third one for? Is it due to us being over in the Middle East right now like Iraq and Afghanistan? Come on now! If you are going to show a marathon then add the third movie to the mix! I hate it when networks does this! If I am going to show a marathon of movies if I owned a network myself I would show all of the films! Not just a couple or three of them and leaving one or two out of the mix to be shown!
See Rambo III. is prior to us having problems in the Middle East. Are AMC and SPIKE TV afraid that if they show this third one too many people are going to complain about it or be upset? That is all I am wondering about here.
dont you have like a milion channels...how can you keep your eye on all of them :)i wouldnt have know it was on here, but by chance my flatmate was flicking through the channels.
"she's the tear that hangs inside my soul forever."
It's Jan 29th 2011, another Rambo Marathon and still no Rambo III. They do I & II & and his newest one. Maybe it has to do with 9/11 and our issues with Afghanistan now, but, the true fact is our country did help the Afghanis and Taliban back in the 80's, right or wrong, it happened as that is what was needed at that time.
yES i Was watching the First Blood marathon on SPIKE TV but like usual they do not show the third one at all for some reason. Possibly it has to do like you said about us being over in Afghanistan but our reason for helping them was that they did not want Russia there any longer. So we went there and trained them to combat the Russians.
This is the market speaking - it's not worth it to the networks to show it on commercial TV. Regardless of your politics, apparently the networks feel - and they probably based this on research - that most people would rather skip this installment. Whether justified or not, most people see Rambo's allies in this movie as the same people who attacked the USA in 2001, and that makes this movie commercial poison in the US.
That sucks because this film is a good movie to watch and I could care less on the political view about it. I mean I get tired of seeing the same Rambo films over and over even though I love all of the Rambo films. That always annoys me that if they show a Friday The 13th film then they should show all of them. Not skip around. The same goes with Halloween movies too!
I can appreciate that you don't see it politically. But after nearly a decade of our Army fighting Islamic fundamentalists in the mountains of Afghanistan, most Americans will probably find themselves rooting for the Russians in Rambo 3!
Also, the political content IS important. If it hadn't been for movies like this one, Americans might have asked their government why we were giving billions of dollars to the Islamic fighters in Afghanistan through the late 80s. Barely 10 years after Rambo 3 these same militants attacked our country. Stallone, who avoided service in Vietnam himself, needlessly exploited the cold war and paranoia over the USSR for his own personal gain.
That said, Rambo 3 does have some awesome action sequences, and 'I will break you' from Rocky IV (another cold war exploitation film) is still a great line.
I totally understand on what you are saying because we trained the SOB that planned the attacks on our soil here in the states. Rambo 3 had a lot of great action in the film and I loved it too! Yes I agree with you that Stallone did make Rambo 3 for the profits along with Rocky IV as well due to the cold war. It is still a film that should be shown on TV though I think in my opinion.
Ironical thing is that this film is more shown on TV outside of US than any other Rambo films, evidently far more than last one which was made only for profit too. Rambo III is a very important film, especially nowadays, metaphorically speaking it's a history lesson about the revolution against the comminst system, people loved it exactly for this reason, because it reflected the actual reality at the time. The irony that only US networks don't show this very film only proves the theory how American/western public is so narrow-minded and stupid, today as well as the time of the release of this film. Nothing has changed obviously. It doesn't suprise me.
I hate to say it patton98, but you are correct about the United States being very narrow minded and stupid because I can go to Europe, or any other country and I feel more free than I do here in the states. I have gone to Spain to visit family that I have on my moms side and people view things a lot more differently than what they do here. The culture over there is a lot more laid back than what it is here. If I would like to have a drink when I was 13 years old or as a child I could do that at lunch or dinner time because my parents would allow me to do that. If that was to happen here in the states people would get bent out of shape over that. Then on cable TV I can remember being 15 years old and I came home with my oldest cousin in Spain from partying. He was in the kitchen cooking a snack for us and I decided to turn on the TV to watch. I am flipping channels and I catch on cable TV porn being shown. I was in shock because if that was to happen in the states here people would be freaking out and that would be the holly rollers complaining about it. Things are so different over seas than here.
Thank you for letting me know that ITV4 shows it on occasions. Well a couple of weeks after Bin Laden was killed SPIKE TV here in the United States showed Rambo III. That was like the first time in like I believe in a very long time that they showed this film.
COOL That they are showing that there in the UK now. Right after SEAL TEAM 6 Killed off Osama Bin Laden they showed it on SPIKE TV for the first time in years.
Well you are lucky that they are showing it in the UK because here in the states they do not show it here at all unless possibly some independent network shows the movie.
That is a good thing that you do not have Dish and that you are okay. Yes very true about checking it out on Netflix or Blockbuster. Netflix started to get rid of AMC about a month or so ago.
That is cool that AMC is showing the marathon of Rambo films. The problem is that I have Dish Network and they have dropped AMC. So I could not watch it.
Feels like over the last decade TV has been afraid to show the Rambo films. In the '90s they were in heavy rotation.
I think First Blood shows the most right now as they can say it's dealing with a contemporary condition in vets and will find an audience that way. II and III are almost never on TV. III is the rarest to find since it can be interpreted as Rambo helping our eventual enemy.
