Wow

What a funny, brilliant and beautiful film. Great story, cast, cinematography and music. Really surprised of how good it was. Very underrated movie, a true classic! 9/10

10 out of 10 I think Dustin Hoffman's performance was one of the greatest if not the greatest performance I've seen in a movie - In my opinion Hollywood's greatest actor

reply

I don't agree. Because he memorized a bunch of riddles and numbers and emotionlessly delivered them while staring at some unseen red dot doesn't really seem like anything mind-blowing. During his outbursts, he sounded and looked like an idiot, not autistic.
If anything, his performance is very overrated, and it coincidentally marks the beginning of Hollywood's pathetic tradition of rewarding actors for playing mentally or physically impaired characters.
On a side note, if I had to pick a performance as the best portrait of severe disability, it would be Daniel Day Lewis in My Left Foot, or Robert DeNiro in Awakenings. They both came after, and both totally outshine Hoffman.

Agree, can't believe he won an Oscar for that.

More like a fool than an idiot, as defined in the medical texts.

I choose to believe what I was programmed to believe

You sir, are retarded... No, it wasn't even Hoffman's best performance, but it was a great performance anyway. "Looked idiotic" yeah, would love to see you do the same thing :)

Agreed.
