can someone pls explain this to me spoilers

ok, so I understand that Ed was connected to Pumpkinhead. but the question is was he turning into pumpkinhead? and if so, was pumpkin head turning into him?

i wondered about that to. but my take on it is that they were simply sharing a soul. Ed's soul belonged to the devil once he summoned Pumpkinhead. i don't think they become Pumpkinhead until after they die. because the actual demon seems to grow from a corpse; like a tree from a seedling. but i could be wrong. i just don't think that Ed Harley was becoming Pumpkinhead, at the end. the demon's face was overlayed with his and vice versa; but only to show that they were spiritually connected. Pumpkinhead is kind of like an avatar for someone's hatred/anger.

Instead of one becoming the other, maybe they were both combining into one entity and that is what is left after Ed & P-head die.

To me, Ed Harley was turning into a host for Pumpkinhead while Pumpkinhead wasn't changing at all except for sustaining whatever wounds Ed got and then bursting into flame when both it and Ed died. If anything, Ed was the human equivalent of a voodoo doll to Pumpkinhead and was in fact the only one who was truly changing the closer it got to fulfilling it goal.

i wonder why the devil would work the loophole into the "contract," this way; with Pumpkinhead's host being the key to destroying it.

He's the next punmpkinhead. It's a cycle. The corpse the witch buries is the next pumpkin head.

They were linked by blood, as well as a soul. Haggis took blood from Billy (the wronged) and Ed (the accuser) and poured it into Pumpkinhead's (the avenger) mouth. That way, Ed is tortured as well as damned as he has to witness all of the deaths committed in his name. Ed and Pumpkinhead become one as the picture goes on; Ed starts turning evil and even has demon eyes at one point. Pumpkinhead starts looking more like Ed. Pretty soon, they also share the pain and damage through the blood bond. If everything had been played out according to plan, they both would have died after killing the last city folk; Ed would have shrunk into the small body and the full-sized Pumpkinhead still would have burned up. Haggis then just had to plant Ed in Razorback Hollow as seen in the movie. It's a cycle of blood and damnation.

what's weird is how Ed Harley's spirit is roaming around in the 3rd movie.
