When Ed Harley shoots Pumpkinhead and the guy decides to vwalk over to it's body and declare "it's dead". Of course Pumpkinhead promptly grabs him and kills him. I mean, why walk right next to a 7 foot tall demonic creature, close enough for it to grab you? The thing anyone would really do is jump in the truck and haul ass!!!

Pretty much no bad guy or monster in cinematic history has ever been dead when the idiot walked over and said that.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that nerdy film dude in scream covered this already though , we know the rules but the characters never seem to.
