Honestly I DON'T believe that her parents would just send Carol Anne away like that. The whole premise of the first two movies is about the family's love for one another and how much they need to stick together. So, why in heck just send her away??? Why break the family apart and leave Carol Anne without what protects her from that monster? I realize this is just a dumb movie and none of the original cast (minus Tangina and Carol Anne) reprised their roles... but come on...

It was just a temporary thing. They were probably getting their lives back together and needed some help. She was suppose to be going back before summer, as said in the movie.

Because Craig T. Nelson and Jobeth Williams declined to be in this film, they had to come up with a reason for their absence. I agree with you in that I don't believe her parents would have sent her to go live with her aunt. They could have said that Stephen and Diane died in car accident and it would have been a better explanation for why Carol Anne was sent to live with her aunt.
