Chemistry just didn't mesh for me

I recall loving this movie as a child and now rewatching it. All the actresses were great within this movie but just realized that Kat and the other girls (Daisy/Jo Jo) just didn't seem like the types to be close.

My main deal was when they went to the country club and Kat didn't seem all interested in the things the other girls were doing. Such as smoking, drinking, or dancing. True her character seemed a bit more mature than the others but still you would think there was some reasoning for her to be hanging out with them.

Daisy and Kat were sisters, and JoJo lived next door, so I assumed that and their shared Portugese American heritage, and working together at MP, led to them all growing close.

All 3 of them were sisters.

No, just Kat and Daisy were sisters. JoJo was just a friend and coworker of theirs. If you look at the beginning of the movie you see JoJo's mom and dad at the wedding. Kat and Daisy have a different mother.

I don't remember any mentioning of who fathered the Arujo sisters, so maybe they were sisters?

reply

Well, it's important to remember that there were a lot of men "sniffing around" for Mrs. Arujo in her day. Different clothes, same lines. Perhaps JoJo's father was one of them. 

However, it's never alluded to as a possibility. When JoJo mentions her father she never says "our father"; i.e., "My father just put himself $5,000.00 in the hole to watch his daughter pass out", or, "You should have seen Bill trying to pull up his pants and be polite to my father at the same time." Maybe Mrs. Arujo just kept it a secret. We'll never know.

Jojo's father is really short like her though. Kat and Daisy are taller.

LOL In all the years I have been watching this movie, I always assumed they were all sisters. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention.
