I really REALLY hate it when...

Studios change the original cover art for a movie to more prominently reflect one of the stars who has since gotten super-famous. Case in point: The original poster for Mystic Pizza had all of the stars featured together equally and now the cover has Julia Roberts' enormous face on it with Lilli Taylor and Annabeth Gish much smaller in the back. It's so disrespectful to those ladies.

I'd beg for some forgiveness but begging's not my business.

true, but like it or not, the only reason people show any interest in the movie nowadays is because she is in it. None of them were big stars when the movie came out, but one of them is now.

reply

Yeah but it's falsely implying that she is the star of the movie - which is untrue. Daisy, Cat and JoJo all pretty much had equal screen-time. It's an ensemble film and the new DVD cover is totally misleading, and just plain rude.

I totally agree with Vanessa on this point!

I agree....they are all terrific actresses and deserve equal credit no matter what.

Welcome to movie marketing, folks. There was once an little independent film, The Lords of Flatbush that had an ensemble cast that included Henry Winkler before he was The Fonz, Sylvester Stallone before he was Rocky, and Perry King and Susan Blakely before they became recognizable television actors.

After Winkler became Fonzie and Stallone became Rocky, the film was shown on TV as a movie-of-the-week, with the intro "Starring Henry Winkler."

Winkler was mortified by that. He said later that they had all worked hard on the film, and that everyone contributed to the work.

That's marketing. It often has nothing to do with truth or integrity. But it will go on no matter how sickening it is.

I really hate it when Julia Roberts cackles.

Vanessa... I couldn't agree more! I have always thought that was tacky AND it's a slap in the face to the artist who designed the poster originally. They did the same thing with "Satisfaction". Though "Satisfaction" was not a masterpiece by any means, it used to feature the star, Justine Bateman prominently on the front, but now Julia's huge mug is next to her.

reply

Though Ana is right, I hate that crap too.
