kat's 4th job?
when kat brings her mom a pizza, her mom brags to her co-workers and says, "kat has 4 jobs"
i know she was obviously a waitress, a babysitter and she spoke at the planetarium.
what was the 4th job?

I always wondered that too! I have no idea. I guess they don't say.
shareI am sure that we will find out. Will watch the movie again.
shareActually, Kat is supposed to have 5 jobs as her mother says:
- You do too much. Kat's got 4 jobs ALREADY.
Kat doesn't deny this and answers:
- I need the money.
I am assuming that she has two more jobs at the library (or one of them in a book store), because the library is mentioned a couple of times and we see her reading the well-worn book 'Early Connecticut Houses'. This jobs will be:
- reading the story hour
- working in the library otherwise
Tim asks his daugther:
- How was the story hour? And the says:
- I got a library card.
I imagine that Kat took Phoebe with her to her story hour and after that they got her the library card. (In Germany you need a parent accompaning a child to get that card, and maybe due to Kats connections she was able to get around that.) I also think that she works as a story teller as she graps a book and reads Phoebe at her interview day, while Tim is at the phone. It seems, that she is used to doing this.
That makes 5 jobs: the Planetarium Job, the Pizza Job, the story hour job, the library job and the babysitting.
What do you think? It sounds logical, doesn't it?
I'm a librarian, so while it's totally possible that Brainy Kat works in a library, doing story hours would be part of that, not a separate job. We don't hire people just to tell stories, that is done by the children's librarians. But lots of smart kids work as library pages, so I could see Kat shelving books while also running around slinging pizza, working at the Planetarium, and sitting for Phoebe.
Also, since she is babysitting for Phoebe, it makes perfect sense that she is taking her places to entertain her, but nowhere does she come out and say that she works at the library. So working at the library is not a definite.
Kat tells Tim that she's been "babysitting for the Cardoza's" since she was 9, so I would say that that is her 3rd job.
As an aside, my library also has a copy of "Early Connecticut Houses". :)
Hi Lucey,
thanks for your note. I heard this with the Cardozas, too, but as the german translation and the subtitles said: Ive been babysitting since I was nine.. I thought I misunderstood the english version. In this case I said, this is her 3. job. You must be right.
The story hour telling could also be done in a book store. But it was just a guess, as she graps naturally the book at the interview day, and days later goes to a (her?) story hour with Phoebe.
Anyway.. the library is of course also just a guess. But I guess, that eiter this or that might be job 5, cause as an actor you find yourself the answer to this question while reading the script, and then you try to put hints into your part to have the chance to tell more about your character.

I just have to add, that Kat is seen reading "Early Connecticut Houses" after Tim shows her around the house he is remodeling, and tells her the story of Elias Montrose. I took this as an indication that she is interested in Tim's work because she is interested in Tim. :)
shareYou people have way too much time on your hands.
