Similar to Once Bitten?

When I was a kid, they showed "My Best Friend is a Vampire" and "Once Bitten" so often on HBO that I actually got parts of one movie confused with the other and as I grew up, I forgot the titles and thought they were the same movie. But after watching both movies again years later, I noticed that while the films were different, the movies has similarities, and not just in the 80's horror-comedy way. I do think "My Best Friend..." is a far superior movie, though.

Yes, it's much better. Once Bitten wasn't that bad itself but MBFIAF is simply a classic.

Honestly, I didn't like Once Bitten at all. And watching it now, I don't even think that Jim Carrey was all that special. My Best Friend Is A Vampire was much better.

I totally used to get the 2 movies confused as well! I think I liked this one better, though. It was funnier. Plus it's got that awesome 'My Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades' song!

I liked how they stuck One Way Or Another by Blondie in the grocery store scene.

This one is better. I've only seen the other once or twice and never really enjoyed it. This one was always fun to watch when I was growing up.

Interesting fact about me that I doubt many will believe even though it is true, Lauren Hutton, the vampire in Once Bitten, is my second cousin.

Its been a while since I've seen either and I really can't remember which one I liked more. I'm a big House fan, so I would probably not choose Once Bitten. I can't exactly remember which scenes go with which film.

Can someone help me...I remember a movie from the 80's where there's kids and a high school...maybe a dance...I remember the very end is the girl, maybe a vamp, sitting in a car listening to the radio...is this the movie? If not, does anyone know what movie it is?

reply

These two movies are both very similar. Even the leads resemble each other in looks and even acting. Very suspicious. I suspect someone wanted another crack at Once Bitten and made it better. Of course, Id much rather see Lauren Hutton than Rene what'shisname anyday.

I do agree, about My Best Friend is a Vampire being better. I haven't watched Once Bitten in a long time, but I remember the first time I saw it. I didn't think too much of it.

There are similarities to both movies but they were done differently though. I remember when they advertised Once Bitten and I wanted to go see that movie. I never saw them advertise for My Best Friend Is A Vampire for the movie theaters when I was 16 years old.

It is hard to say on which one I like. I will go with Once Bitten since it showed a little more of women being topless in it than what My Best Friend Is A Vampire.

the films are very similar but "I was a teenage vampire" is far better IMO.

I have not seen I was a teenage vampire before but I have seen Once Bitten and My Bestfriend Is A Vampire though. I liked both Once Bitten and My Bestfriend Is A Vampire. I thought they were great to watch. In My Best Friend Is A Vampire I would have had the beautiful woman in the main characters dream when he has the shower scene have it to where she is topless in that scene. That is my opinion on that.

It is indeed similar to "Once Bitten," a film I enjoyed slightly more than this (though i enjoyed "My Best Friend ..." immensely).

There are similar movie, but My Best Friend Is a Vampire is better. Once Bitten was unfunny and stupid.
