the girl who plays Darla is a horrible actor
It wasn't horrible in a funny way and I didn't laugh.
I found myself laughing at her and her attempts to show emotion.

All I know is Kathy Bates played Darla's mom in the movie and she was skinny. Two years later in "Misery'she was fat. She really blew up.
shareYeah, Cheryl Pollack isn't very good in this movie. She's actually pretty good in Pump Up The Volume and is actually very attractive because she has longer hair and is playing popular student instead of a dork.
F.Y.I. The Copywright of this movie is 1985 even though it came out in 1988. I guess it sat on the shelf for awhile.

Thats wierd because they were filming in August of 1986 at my high school (Milby High School aka Milton High School)
shareThanks for that tidbit. I remember renting this in '88 or so. Watching it now I can easily tell that it has to predate 1988.
shareI agree that she does remind me of Molly Ringwald character in PRETTY IN PINK. She even dressed the same style clothes. I do not think she was bad in this film. The movie was a cheesy 80's teen comedy similar to ONCE BITTEN and to a slimmer strectch FRIGHT NIGHT. I just took it as a good time-killer when nothing else is on televison to watch. The one actor that really had me laugh was the vampire hunter and his assistant (somewhat like Abbott and Costello). I just take this as a comedy movie that it is.
shareJust curious...if you didn't laugh, how did you find yourself laughing at her attempts to show emotion. I'm very confused!
I just decided to check out the page for this movie because I remember it being pretty entertaining back when I watched in 5th or 6th grade. Unfortunately Blockbuster online doesn't seem to carry it for some odd reason!
Yeah-movie would have been better if she decided to I don't know...take acting lessons?
I didn't do it!
I was thinking the same thing. I don't think she was a good actress. The movie was doing alright, but once they started showing more of her towards the end, it got kinda bad for me...
does anyone else think it was weird that she accepted he was a vampire and believed it quite easily?
Of course it was ridiculous. As everyone's said, the plot was plainly ridiculous--it was more than comfortable with the various plot-holes and tainted acting.
If you'd like to see Pollak actually act, she did a fair job in Dark Side of The Moon. (Which, incidentally, is another movie which has two release dates... it was filmed in '88, but due to the civil unrest in the country it was shot in, the footage was lost until the 90's... it was released finally on DVD in '97 I think. The only reason it ever got released is because the star of the film--who was a nobody at the time--was someone you might've heard of... Brad Pitt.)
When I was watching the movie, the whole time I was thinkig Patricia Arquette, Behind the glasses it was hard to tell. Then when her skinny Kathy Bates of a mother took of her glasses I didn't know what to think. Thanks to IMDB for helping me figure that one out. I need to see a picture of what Cheryl Pollak liiks like now to see it the two actresses are even similar. Sure have the same voice.
OK, none too good an actress, but so attractive!
Haven't been able to find any info on her on the web, probably didn't get anywhere as an wannabee actress.

lol I laugh at her whenever I watch this movie...just find myself cracking up when she was left at that make-out spot....starts crying to her friend...lol!
