Family Guy

Did this film inspire the running gags on Family Guy about the evil monkey who lives in the closet?

I have not thought about that but in family guy they show that the monkey became evil when he found out his wife was cheeting on him. There was also a simpsons episode like this "mojo the helper monkey:

reply

Yeah I remember something like that on the simpsons, but family guy's was funnier.

Anybody see that episode of Malcolm in the Middle where Craig gets a helper monkey but soon becomes paranoid. I remember it had similar attacks on people in it.

"I don't watch Malcolm, but the father on the show, Bryan Cranston, did battle with an evil monkey in a segment of the movie, Terror Tract. He went kind of nuts in the movie too. "

That's weird because the dad does the same thing in the Malcom in the Middle episode. He ends up catching the monkey and getting his name in the newspaper for his courageous act.

reply

You might be thinking of the Halloween episode where they get the monkey's paw, and yes that is classic. I haven't seen the Family Guy bit though.

Heh heh.

"You're supposed to be a helper monkey. This isn't helping!"

Love it.

Family Guy is NO Simpsons.

Family Guy definetely does *not* possess the "smarts", if such thing applies, to the jokes that "The Simpsons" has or even "South Park" for that matter. Gags abound and are funny nonetheless. None of the commentary for "Family Guy" attributed anything of their monkey to this monkey. "The Simpsons" is the only one with a seeming direct link, the end scene with the monkey laying around empty beer cans is a classic and has the Stephen Hawking talking device.

Are you retarded? Family Guy is filled with subtle alusions to just about everything, and has so many levels of humor. You'll find yourself watching and one day catch some small nuance, and it will turn out to be a link to something in pop-culture. Some of the references in Family Guy are so obscure, so I'm pretty sure this alusion is plausible, if not factual.

Making pop culture references and having smart humor are two totally different things. That's like comparing "Blazing Saddles" and "Kentucky Fried Movie." I'm not saying "Family Guy" isn't funny, I watch it and like watching it. But you cannot justify it is aiming to try and put a message across at all. I'm not saying "The Simpsons" is trying to do this anymore either since it has edged out more for the simple laugh; at one time though it attempted to at the most minimal level. And I got off topic in this thread, so I apologize.

South Park's attack on Family Guy in the recent Cartoon Wars episode says exactly what I think of Family Guy... I hate that show, it's so predictable and unoriginal.

Also I think in a different episode homer ended up in a full body cast and got a helper monkey and it tried to feed him a draino milkshake.

Enough about what's better Family Guy or the Simpsons or Southpark. The fact we all watch the same programmes that effect us all enough to discuss them on line means we all have similar tastes and attitudes and as such should all get along.
And anyway the most important thing here is that we are here to talk about one thing. The Monkey!!!! Get back to the monkey!!!! Rarrrggghhh!!! If you want to talk about animated shows go onto their pages. Here we talk about monkey and only monkey!!! Not cartoons or even Zombies only monkeys!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Huh.. huh... huh..

"He forgot to Hail to the Chimp!"

Yes Phonics monkey. Leave me and my monkey be.
