I love this movie! I Saw it in theatres in '88 and a million times more on cable. But one running bit throughout the movie that bugs me is how often someone gets "knocked out" when they get punched in the face. I mean, these are not blows from Ali or Tyson! Every time a punch is thrown....bam...unconscious! The worst is when Grodin is trying to steal the plane, De Niro, with no leverage, is able to hit him so hard he is knocked unconscious! Hilarious! Just like the whole movie...what a gem! "I'm not speaking to you for the whole rest of this trip!"

That's Hollywood for you, someone always gets knocked out with one punch. What a crock!

It's a movie cliche, something traditional to fall back on, and sometimes a deus ex machina. But in this movie one shouldn't allow it to bother him that much.
