'I'm a white collar criminal.'
The delivery of that line by Grodin is so perfect.
shareHis delivery AND expression were gold. One of the Duke's finest moments.
The prostitution rests. - Kelly Bundy
Agree whole heartedly. Out of the many, many hilarious lines in this movie, that line is one of the best. The quick as lighting "I'm a white collar criminal" when De Niro's ex-wife's son says "You don't look much like a criminal," is so perfect it cracks me up every time.
sharebuddy i can only compliment your post
this flick is so xxxking full of memorable lines
but grodin's delivery of this one man it's a standout read no doubt
Like a little kid would know the difference between a white collar and a blue collar criminal! Grodin's delivery of his lines were awesome in this film. His facial expressions rocked too, like when he looked back and forth between Jack and his ex-wife and then between Jack and Marvin and then at the airport between Jack and Serrano. It's hard not to look at him when he's on screen, even if he's not talking.
I wonder if this is Charles Grodin's best known role. Maybe "Beethoven" too.

The best line in the movie.
Schrodinger's cat walks into a bar and doesn't.
Grodin is entirely entertaining to me in Midnight Run. He is the perfect match for De Niro. One is surprised that these two actors are so ideal in a perfect buddy movie.
