80 Bucks!!!

So...how much did it cost to have your car towed in the 80s? Was the 80 bucks he paid the tow truck driver a windfall, or was the amount small in comparison to how much Les would have had to pay to get the car out of being impounded, and that's why the driver was laughing about it?

Ahhh...thank you!

My family and I had a funny argument about this last night, debating over whether the driver was laughing and saying "80 bucks!" because he was making out great in the deal, or because $80 was pitiful. I always thought the guy was laughing because it was a lot of money and he couldn't believe Les was giving him that much. So just to be clear, which do you think it is? Because I still feel confused about it even after reading your response.

Seems alittle high for the 80s.

In my opinion, the truck driver probably could've done a lot better. $80 in 1988 is worth in 2019, $170. The truck driver laughing is like a big "f**k you!" to Corey Haim.

I remember paying 60 in the mid 90s, and that was a premium rate because of how poor the weather was. I'll bet 30-40 was normal in the 80s
