How Did Les Know Mercedes Number??

When Les picks up Mercedes the first time in the Cadillac the first time, he drops her off at her friends house and gives his telephone number to her. However she doesn't give him hers.

So how did Les known what her number was when he called her the first time?

Was there a deleted scene, where she rung him at an earlier time?

There used to be a thing called phone books. We have to assume he looked her up. If she was in my school, I would have known everything about her.

I don't know how he got it, but if you look closely at the slips of paper underneath his alarm clock, one of them says "Mercedes" with her phone number on it.

For all we know he may have had her number before the events of the movie started.
