We find out more about Lady March or Lady Marsh as she is called in the film. Some of which is differs her from her character in the film, and some of which makes her similiar to her character in the film.

There is also a report of her attacking a child which bears certain similiarities and differences to the attack on Kevin, the boy scout, in the film.

There was a child's body found, it doesn't say whether it was a boy or a girl, whose death is laid to Lady March. And people in the area have also started to disappear, which is also put down to her doings.
There is also an explanation in the book for the book's title. Her house, Diana's Grove (called Temple House in the film) was less formally known as The Lair of the White Worm.
