Did the party at D'Ampton Manor begin on Friday or Saturday night?

Arguing for Saturday night is Kevin's late arrival at the crossroads, which occurred the day after the party began. If the party began on Friday, then he would have been there before noon, which contradicts what is said in the film, but, if the party had began on Saturday, then he would have most likely attended Sunday morning church services, which would have got him to the crossroads close to dusk or the time stated in the film.

But arguing for Friday night is the newspaper read by James, during his dream. in the airplane, which occurred two days after the party began. If the party began on Saturday, then the newspaper was two days old, when he read it, but, if the party began on Friday, then the newspaper woould have been only a day old.

So, when the party begin, Friday or Saturday night?
