Totally uncut? (READ ALL TO ANSWER THOROUGHLY )

I read this in one of the posts here:

"And when i saw the eye gouging i ran out, about a mintue later i came back in and calmed myself down."

I watched the movie at home last night. I was fighting to keep myself awake since I already watched it once. The first time I was falling asleep as well this is why I bought the dam thing and watched it again. I love this movie because it definitely isn't scared to get down and dirty.

Here's the problem:

"eye gouging"

Now last night I remember watching the heroine stepping on an eyeball. Why????? did I not see how that eyeball got on the floor? Did I dose off? I don't think so. I was rewinding anytime I felt I had missed some gore. So where does this "eye gouging" take place? What exact seconds on the Wizard DVD?

Other issues:

I am ALWAYS looking for the most uncut complete version of anything. I hate cut crap. It's like cheating. I hope someone can enlighten me as to if the Wizard red cover unrated uncut version really has EVERY POSSIBLE FRAME included. I also heard on this imdb site of a body being cut in half. I saw the legs. When did those legs get dismembered from the top half of the body? That would be awesome to see a cutting in half of one of the bodies. Why hide that? Was it hidden originally? VHS vs DVD? 80's vs now? Help.

Another thing is, the hook scene...is it basically, we see the hook go in and cut then we see him spitting blood and cut then we see his reflection in blood hanging and that's it? A total of maybe 20 seconds in all? They sure cut fast after he's lowered onto that hook. Thought he would be lowered and hang for a bit. You know, hang and have a beer or some shiiit. Nah, it's got to be cut right away.

Anyone whoever knows this movie inside out please enlighten me in a very thorough way about this as I take my collecting seriously.

The unrated directors cut that is out on dvd is the most complete that I have seen. From what I have read they added about 7 minutes back into the movie. If there is more footage I am not sure.

I can't remember the exact second it happens, but the eye gouging (actually eye impalement) takes place when the killer "kills" Danny in his office by pushing his eye into that paper spike thing on his desk. Later on you see him still alive, but missing his eye. Sorry if I'm bad at describing it, but it's on the Wizard DVD.

You never see a body get cut in half. You only see the legs in the one scene, then the rest sticking out of a trash bin with a "1/2 Off" sale sign.

As far as I know, the Wizard DVD is as uncut as it comes. A friend of mine bought the R rated VHS from Movie Gallery a few years ago, and it was badly cut compared to this version. Also, I have a bootleg from an uncut Laserdisc, and it's exactly the same as the Wizard DVD.

You also see Danny's eye in the olive jar a bit earlier in the movie.

Yes, the Wizard DVD is the totally uncut version. The death of Sam Raimi on the meathook originally had an extra shot of a dummy head spitting out blood, but it was cut out at the editing stage because it looked too cheesy and fake. For some reason, that shot was included in the original trailers for the film (not the one on the Wizard DVD). The extras for the German special edition include a version of that scene with the shot from the trailer reintegrated in, as well as a longer version of the bandsaw death from the workprint. However, these scenes were deleted with good reason, and do not form part of the uncut version.

Give a thousand monkeys a thousand laptops and they'd all be writing their stupid opinions on IMDB.

So, the extended hook scene and the bandsaw labotomy aren't on the Wizard R1 DVD? Or they are?

If something's too good to be true, it's best to shoot it just in case.

reply

No, but the extended workprint deaths featured on the new Blu-Ray has them. Hell, for the first 100 (I think) pre-orders off the disturbers site for it came with the actual workprint version of the film on DVD.
