That might sound like a stupid question, but I haven't seen the movie. Is he a generic homicidal maniac or is there some sort of twist? Thanks in advance.

There's a twist. Well, not really, the trailer and the box art give it away, but it's still intended as one.
It's set up through most of the movie to be the main female character's ex-boyfriend, but at the end he reveals himself to be a decent enough guy, and the killer turns out to be (I *beep* you not) the store owner.
Many of us watched it online, without the pesky box art to give away the ending. >:P

I find that .50 caliber rounds have a delightful way of making one's problems die.
Yeah, the trailer was included in my DVD copy, and I was shocked at how much it gives away, especially since the film takes great pains to keep suspicion off the killer, and throw it onto another character (Though I didn't suspect him either)
Actually, Danny Hicks plays the store co-owner and killer. Eugene Robert Glazer apparently owns more of the store, since he's closing it essentially without Danny Hicks' ok.

The Intruder is actually the bad-boy ex that's harassing the main girl and her fellow employees. There also happens to be a homicidal maniac slaughtering the staff... but he's not an intruder because he owns half the store ;)
shareAs you mention it, the Intruder part wasn't really a big enough part of the movie to name it after. The Intruder wasn't the killer. The Intruder just sort of turned up, had a bit of an argument with his ex-girlfriend and generally made a big enough pain in the ass of himself to be thrown out.
You could argue the other times he entered the store, he was trying to warn/help people against the actual killer. The part about the Intruder was actually a red herring. The killer was somebody who had every right to be there.
