A movie that could have been real good.


Not bad but not scary. I just didn't think the last 5 minutes were spectacular.... bad acting with them screaming while being burned, the wolves with glowing red eyes, and the doctor's ugly ass, retarded looking face while he's transforming. It kind of ruined what could have been a pretty decent movie IMO. Still not completely bad though.

The director did the truly terrifying Legend of the Hell House so we know he can tell a decent story. This one just never catches fire.

I think the problem here was that there was no budget to speak of. Had there been more good actors involved than just the lead, and maybe a little more in the way of werewolf effects this could have been really good. As it stands, this is a good example of the early direct-to-video market. When this appeared there had been DTV films but I can't think of any that made a significant impression. By the early '90's DTV was a huge industry and by the middle of that decade some great ones were coming out. But in 1988, not much of quality; this "Howling" sequel was really good for a DTV at the time.
