I'm very disappointed in the rating of this movie.
Only a 6.8 while the remake has a 7.4??!!

How can people prefer the remake to this one?

The performances are much better in this one (I hated Travolta's fake, phony, wannabe Baltimore-accent, plus his voice. Divine had a gentle soft voice, so you'd really see him as a woman, but Travolta's deep manly voice reminded me again and again that he was a man, so I couldn't take him seriously.

The musical part of the remake would have been good, IF they gave the songs a sixties- rock&roll "sound", but instead of that, they gave them a typical Hollywood-musical sound, which kinda prevents you to get into that 60s atmosphere;

the absence of hits from the 50s and 60s, from for instance Chubby Checker, was really a pity, because that's why the remake didn't give me that 60s feeling like the original.

Having said that, I can understand why so many people post at the remake that they love it, and give it a 7,4, and that over here many say they hate it, and it only has a 6.8?
