Way Beyond Grease?

I just watched the theatrical trailer on the DVD. The only people who are going to think this movie is better than Grease are those that were in this film and those that hate Grease anyway. I represent the latter, because my high school graduation was turned into a joke when I had to sing "We Go Together."

"There is no escape, John!"

i think you are getting this version the original and best mixed up with the horrible musical version.

No, I'm talking about this one, the 1988 version with talk-show host Ricki Lake as Tracy Turnblad.
Don't get me wrong. This is not a bad movie. I happen to like both Hairspray movies*. I'm referring to the pitch in the trailer that said, "Way Beyond Grease."

*Though I think the musical numbers in the 2007 version were a bit excessive.

That's marketing. It's the studio trying to get people to watch in in 1988.

I didn't think they were talking about the musical "Grease" but instead hair grease. Like Hairspray(Hair Product, Not movie) Is way Beyond Grease

Look Out ! Its Barbra Streisand's Nose !

That could be a valid argument, and it is possible that you're right about this, but unlikely. I still think they were comparing it to the movie Grease.

I loved both Grease and the original Hairspray.

Go take a step outside - see what’s shaking in the real world.

I love Grease, and I'd have to say I love Hairspray even more.

I agree with the poster who said the trailer was mentioning hair grease, and not the movie "Grease."

It's called a pun, dumbass.
