Real Language of Film

This film is a french production. There's no question about that. However when I got the DVD and put on the french language track it looked out of place and the english seemed more in line. So is the film actually in english? Why would a french production with french stars where most of the scenes take place in europe be in english?

reply

Presumably for the International market. It was filmed in English.

When it first played in the States they tried to do everything they could to keep audiences from knowing anything about it being French!

The film IS english language. not french. and its not the first time the production unit 'GAUMONT' have done this. Leon was another. Those guys are great.

Whatever the reason, the film IS in English (I do a little lip reading).

I always liked the movie in french and have never bothered watching it in english (although it's available also on the dvd). I think the movie has a very special atmosphere and I believe the language is a part of that.

So is there any reason why I should watch it in english?

reply

yes as it was filmed in English, I cant stand dubbed films
