I mean we we ever given a reason?
I've never seen a worse relationship, she cried for half the movie and i was left wondering WHY she wanted to stay with him. IT seems to me as though they rarely spoke, and he ignored her all the time. Seriously he had to be the worst on screen boyfreind ever.
I mean the only reason they coulkd have been together is lust, the ONLY reason and the main flaw in an otherwise enjoyable movie

I always saw it as unrequited love. She clearly loved him, but he never really shows any real love back. Frankly he's just in his own world and more or less incapable of loving a person or even really being able to "get" people or relationships at all.
